New Year's Eve 2023/24 - Scotland!

What on earth do you do in Horncliffe on New Years Eve? Head to the pub of course! Especially if you want great company, delicious food, plenty to drink, music and a wonderful atmosphere. Anyone NOT wanting any of those things can stay at home, put their feet up and enjoy the starlit skies we are so blessed with around here in peace! This year after much debate Veg shed decided to share their January feast on New Years Eve - they nearly did this on New Years Day, but realised that hangovers and general festive overload might be a problem, so we pulled out all the stops and laid on a fabulous Scottish themed buffet for Hogmanay in the newly opened Fisher's Arms. As we were serving up in the pub, visitors could also help themselves for a very reasonable £15 per head, so we were all asked to make double portions and very usefully, any leftovers were helpf...

America

We had a lovely sunny evening celebrating American food. It was June's choice for the month of June (!) and hosted by Mo. American cuisine is wide ranging obviously, so we had a really interesting evening. It was lovely and sunny, so we could enjoy eating in the garden and the conservatory... Everyone is a special guest at Veg Shed, but one guest in particular felt very special to meet for the first time - Baby Lois! The food was delicious and so varied... Puddings as well of course! This was the last dinner this season, we will return to meeting outside the village hall or in Jacquot's shed, if it is raining, on Mondays at 5pm - with wine if you wish, starting Monday 15th July. Veg can be swapped or paid for - all organic and very healthy! Thank you Mo and June for the wonderful hospitality!

British night

Hosted by Nick and Jane on the 1st April 2024 A delicious spread was assembled by everyone of macaroni cheese, cauliflower cheese, Hairy Bikers Vegetarian Lancashire hot pot, pheasant crumble, cheese & mushroom flan. Drinks included cider and beer and pudding included a classic trifle! Although the meal was very well attended as usual, there were some absent friends: Mo, Frances, Debbie and Livvy were all on a 'Research Trip' to Southern Italy. Contact was made by FaceTime however, and a useful catch up was achieved. Jane and Tabitha took a moment to make the draw for the 200 club... A fun way to raise funds for our fabulous new community pub, The Fishers Arms .
