Veg shed is definitely the lazy person's way to travel - you really do not need to go far, you just need to nip round to a neighbours on a Monday night and you are transported to a far off land!
Rose had been to Norway recently on a cruise and she wanted to share the culinary delights she experienced with her friends back home in Horncliffe. She panicked slightly because Veg shed is becoming very popular and she did not think she could seat 20 people in her house, so John suggested the pub - it is closed on a Monday - perfect!
Jacquot offered to support her, a shared event is often the route to success!
And actually with Flip and Jane on hand, success is guaranteed - these people really should be running the country actually.
And what a feast - wow Scandinavian food really is delicious - who knew?
Rye bread, crisp bread, smoked salmon, Jarlsberg, ferments, caviar and that was just the starters.
I honestly don't think everyone got on to the main course, which included more fish, prawns, lamb, potato dishes... Norwegian food is simple, but very very tasty.
We had a fabulous night -it was great fun in the pub, made a nice change and felt very luxurious, but the spirit of veg shed is really to try and hold it in our homes.
Looking forward to next month very much - Hungary, Monday 3rd Feb 7pm!
