France

The home of classic cookery and hosted by Tabitha and Adrian Bell, we were all delighted to explore and sample the wonderful cuisine of France.

We were welcomed to the Bell's beautiful home and and enjoyed drinks on very comfy sofas in the garden room.

While Tabitha and Adrian were busy preparing the food, their gorgeous black lab kept us all entertained!

No-one wanted to move, but the aromas wafting from the kitchen tempted us through and  soon we were all queuing up to try French onion soup, pork stewed in Normandy cider, potato puree, braised cabbage and a selection of salads with French beans and olives.

The main courses were followed by deserts, including Tarte au Pomme and a fragrant goats cheese cheesecake made by Tabitha.

All accompanied, of course, by fresh baguettes, croissants, and a delicious array of cheeses.

I cannot quite recall who made each dish but everyone makes or brings something, so it is honestly not too much work for the hosts, but we are always grateful for their generous hospitality.

The dining room looked so inviting and elegant before we all piled in -

Slight chaos ensued - a few of us popped some French Onion soup onto our dinner plates, it was so beautifully thick and delicious, I did not quite realise it was soup, not stew!

But we are all clearly extremely happy in the end!

Thank you once again Tabitha and Adrian for your very warm welcome.
