The Colour Purple

Another triumphant evening for veg shed.

Please do not be intimidated, but it was hosted by beautiful Mo, in her beautiful home and she made the most incredible blackcurrant cheesecake, topped with a glass like coulis made from fruits from Stephanie's garden....

We are constantly reminded to 'just relax', 'it's just for fun', then the Queen of the Darling Pub whips up something like this!! Hmmm...

Livvy Cawthorn, another top chef, produced this incredible purple onion focaccia, another work of art. I can still recall the tang of flavours magically woven together in every mouthful!

The rest of us managed an equally beautiful array of delicious purple goodies: roasted aubergine; beetroot and red cabbage stews, all cooked to perfection.

Eileen's beetroot dumplings were remarkable, an excellent Eastern European recipe...

I would like to give myself a few marks as well, just for presentation, for my beetroot, radish and kidney bean salad, mainly because I presented it in a beautiful square dish by Innerwick based ceramicist Lucy Dunce, I also quite like my lattice of yoghurt dressing across it. Mo's gorgeous antique salad servers made the perfect finishing touch.

Well behaved veg shed participants politely queuing in their purple outfits. We do take it quite seriously!

The purple puddings were WELL worth going back for as well.

If you can tear yourself away from the chat that is!! Hmm, spotted someone not in purple - clearly a newcomer!

A great time was definitely had by all. Thank you Mo, definitely the hostess with the mostest this month.

Next month, March 2026, veg shed will be in the pub, due to a muddle on my part I am afraid. All welcome, Dave will be behind the bar serving. If you would like to join us, please ask in the Fishers Arms for more details.
